Object by Object is a private consultancy led by Francesca Esmay.
Taking on select consultation projects and hands on treatments, O by O provides expertise in the area of modern and contemporary object conservation, collection management, and preventive conservation. Clients include numerous institutions, galleries, and private collectors.
Francesca Esmay's lifelong interests have been in the areas of art, architecture, and chemistry and her professional affiliations include Dia Art Foundation, where she joined the staff in November of 2006 as the organization's first conservator. Ms. Esmay's primary responsibilities at Dia were to initiate a comprehensive conservation and collections care program. From 2001 to 2006, she worked in a similar capacity as the first conservator at the Chinati Foundation, a contemporary art museum in Marfa, TX, overseeing conservation, registration, and installation for the museum's permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.
Presently, Ms. Esmay is the Panza Conservator at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.
